Sailing Home Masculine Card

This card is perfect for an anniversary card for that special man in your life, and if they like boats, even better. I used the 'Come sail away memories & more card pack' for the background and the sailing boat, which made it super quick to make. I love the colours and the little die cut elements used.

Tools: Banner punch

Adorable Owls Shadow Box Card

I can't seem to get enough of these adorable owls...my mind is just spinning with so many ideas that I want to make with these little cuties!

For this card, I knew I wanted to create a shadow box type card, that folds flat and is suitable for posting. I wanted to make the colours go from light to dark, so the card had some depth and a mystical feel about it. It took me a little while to work out all the measurements, and I will do a tutorial at some stage with the instructions when I have some more time on my hands.

For the owl, I used my water brush and a couple of drops of refill ink in crumb cake and tip top taupe for the head and body. I used my stampin blends for the eyes, beak and feet. I also used a thin strip of a window sheet to hold the owl in place, which makes the owl look like it's flying.

The tree dies unfortunately are not Stampin Up dies, as I was after a certain size for this card. The sentiment is one I created and printed myself.

Products used

Stamps: Adorable owls
Dies: Circle, banner & winter trees (by MFT)
Cardstock: Crumb cake, soft suede, early espresso, whisper white & window sheet
Inks: Memento black
Stampin blends: Granny apple green & mango melody
DSP: Twinkle twinkle
Sentiment: made myself (non SU)

Using this sentiment, makes it a perfect card for a graduation card.

Cardstock: Whisper white & balmy blue
DSP: Come sail away
Inks: Night of navy
Markers: Balmy blue & smokey slate

All Occasion Masculine Card

I have one last card to share for father's day this year, or for any occasion really.

The DSP is from several years ago, but still a favourite of mine for masculine cards because of the deep rich colours. I created the moon with large circle dies by die cutting a large circle, then using a smaller circle to cut away the inside of the shape. The sentiment is not from Stampin Up, but came free with a scrapbooking magazine I purchased years ago.

I used some tiny little gold rhinestones on the points of the stars constellations, but they are a little hard to see in the photo's...in real life they really do sparkle.

Products used

Dies: Large circles
Cardstock: Very vanilla & brushed metallic gold
Inks: Basic black
DSP:
Going places
Sentiment: Unknown
Embellishments: Tiny gold rhinestones

Hat's Off Father's Day Card

Father's day is only two days away, so I have another great masculine card which uses the 'Hat's Off' bundle (now retired).

To be honest I struggled coming up with a card that uses the smallest hat die from the 'Hat Builder' die set, but am very happy with the finished product. I do like the colours that I used...My husband has a hat in each of these colours, so it turns out to be a perfect card for him!

Products used

Stamps: Hat's off
Dies: Hat builder
Cardstock: Crumb cake, mossy meadow, basic black, early espresso, soft suede & night of navy
Inks: Basic black, versa mark & white embossing powder
DSP:
True love
Sentiment: Hat's off

Hat's Off Masculine Card

Sharing a last minute masculine card that can be used for father's day this weekend.

I really love the simplicity and colours used for this card. It is based on Michelle Last's card from back in 2016. Whilst I used the same DSP for the background, everything else I changed. I used the 'Hat's Off' bundle (now retired) for the hat and sentiment. I love how the sentiment ties in with the map and the hat for the next adventure.

Products used

Stamps: Hat's off
Dies: Hat builder
Cardstock: Very vanilla, basic black & mossy meadow
Inks: Basic black, versa mark & white embossing powder

Mixed Drinks Father's Day Card

As father's Day is fast approaching, below is another card to share for the occasion. I was inspired by the card Shannon Lane made but only changed the sentiment.

I used the stamp set 'Mixed Drinks' which is a really old retired set, but this card could easily be replicated by using the new 'Brewed for You' stamp set and coordinating dies.

Products used

Stamps: Mixed drinks, touches of texture, perfect pennants & playful backgrounds
Cardstock: Smoky slate, crushed curry & whisper white
DSP: Neutrals paper assortment
Sentiment: Labeler alphabet
Embellishments: Smoky slate stitched ribbon & black metallic thread

Interactive Father's Day Card

So Father's Day is just around the corner, and I wanted to share an interactive card using an old stamp and die bundle which I still love. I am using the 'Nailed It' bundle, as well as the little jar stamp from the 'Jar of Haunts'.

My husband loves to tinker in his garage and is quite handy on the tools, so this card is perfect for him. The front is a shaker card with the little nuts and bolts as the shaker pieces, and the inside is a pop up card featuring the tools. The idea was to make the pop up part look a little like a tool-belt. It also includes a pocket for a gift card or money.

Have a Ball - Masculine Birthday Card

Here is a perfect birthday card for those that love ball sports. The card style was made with males in mind, however it could be used for females as well.

The tennis and cricket balls are raised to give it some dimension. It is a very quick and simple card to make.

Apron of Love Father's Day Card

I know I am a week late for posting a Father's Day card, but here it is anyway.

Sadly, I didn't get to see my dad for father's day, due to the covid lock-down, so I will just have to make up for it when the lock-down finishes...but who know when that might be.

My dad is brilliant at BBQ's, so this card is very fitting.

Masculine Birthday Card

I have a super simple masculine birthday card to share. The background is just designer series paper (DSP), the word 'happy' has been stamped and the rest of the sentiment and embellishments have all been die cut from either plain cardstock or DSP.

Sailing Home Card

I am so glad the 'Sailing Home' stamp set and coordinating dies are still current Stampin Up items, as I have so many cards to share using this set.

I was inspired by Lauren Alarid's card as I loved the colour scheme she used. I did change the orientation of the card, the sentiment and a couple of other little embellishments, but overall my card is very similar.

Cheers to Dads!

It is father's day here in Australia today, so I have one more perfect card to share for the occasion.

I used the following stamp sets to create the card: mixed drinks (for the beer), gorgeous grunge, timeless textures, and touches of texture (for the background) and labeler alphabet (for the sentiment). I added some black metallic thread and clear enamel dots for the finishing touches.

Cheers to all the dads out there, happy father's day!

Father's Day Cards

Wow, it's been a while since I have added a post, so I am sharing a couple of father's day cards, just in time for father's day tomorrow.

The first one is a very simple card. I used the 'wood textures DSP' for the background, the 'dad' die cut (die is not SU) and the banner. I added the sentiment and a screw from the 'urban underground embellishments'.

The second card is still simple, but has a few extra elements. I used very vanilla cardstock for the base and top layer, and added some strips of DSP and early espresso cardstock to each side. I used the texture paste (added a couple of drops of sahara sand ink) and the brick wall stencil to create the brick background, making sure it wasn't perfect...as I wanted a weathered look. The 'happy' word was die cut from the 'happy birthday' die in both early espresso and cajun craze and raised with some dimensionals. Lastly, I added my sentiment, banner and a couple of screw brads, then added the top layer to the card base.

I loved how both cards turned out. The second card is the one I am giving my dad this year.

Sailing Home Interactive Card

Who doesn't love the 'Sailing Home' bundle in the Stampin Up annual catalogue? I adore this set, probably because I grew up down the coast, so it reminds me of home.

I have seen a few cards online that light up, and was inspired by Isabell Jauss's card, and knew I had to do something similar. Isabell, has a video of how she did the card, but unfortunately it is in German, so I couldn't understand a word, but I got the general idea just by watching it.

The products Isabell used to make the light mechanism, are not available in Australia, so I made the decision to invested in a chibi-tronics kit instead, so I could give it a go myself. This kit came with simple instructions that you can easily apply to a card. The third image shows the light on, when 'buoy is pressed'.

Timber Themed Masculine Card

I really enjoy making masculine cards and the one below is one that I cased from Connie Collins. When I saw the background on the card that Connie made, I new I had to give it a go and I really enjoyed putting this one together. My card orientation and sentiment is different from Connie's, as I always like to change things a little, to make it my own.

I used the one of the sheets of DSP from the 'wood textures' pack, and cut it into thin wood strips and then inked the white edges with early espresso ink. I laid the wood strips diagonally onto a black piece of card stock, leaving about 1 millimeter space in between each strip. I then trimmed the 4 sides of the background piece and adhered it to my card base and embellished it with my sentiment, linen thread and a leaf from the 'seasonal layers' dies.

Foxy Friends - Wild About You Card

Today I am sharing another cute little card made using the "Foxy Friends" stamp set and the coordinating "Foxy Builder" punch. You can also view my last post using this stamp set, if you wish to make a more simplified card.

Masculine Fishing Card

Father's day is just around the corner, so I wanted to share a cascade card that I made a couple of years ago, using the "By the Tide" stamp set which is now retired. You can find my cascade card instructions here, please ensure you scroll down to the bottom of the page.

I made the fishing rods by hand, using a long strip of card stock and several circle punches which I used for the reel and to thread the bakers twine through so that it would resemble fishing line.

I did plenty of fussing cutting for the fish and sea horses, which took a bit of time, but made the end result well worth it.

Foxy Friends - Wild About You Card

The new "Foxy Friends" stamp set and coordinating punch is proving to be very popular bundle. I love how versatile this set is and I have seen so many wonderful creations made with it, and I thought it was time to share one of my own designs...a very simple card!

Since I did not have a stamp that said "wild about you" I decided to print my own sentiment instead.
